LOCAL GIRL APPEARS IN NEW DISNEY WORLD AD
Glanmire News Area were delighted to learn that one of the stars of the brand new online ad for Disney World, titled; “Welcome Home”, features none other than “Colleen”, or as she’s known around Glanmire, Caoimhe Ní Shúilleabháin (19).
Caoimhe (Colleen to the Yanks) was determined not to let Covid-19 get in the way of her hotly anticipated summer J1 to the US of A.

“Listen...” Caoimhe tells GNA over Zoom from her motel room accommodation. And we do listen. Always.
“I wasn’t about to let some flu that only affects old people and people who are probably going to die soon anyway get in the way of my J1. I don’t care that none of my friends came. I told my parents; ‘I’m still going’ and do you know what they said?”
We didn’t.
“They said ‘You’re right too girl’. I’ve been looking forward to this since I was 17 when my older sister Dearbhala (21) went on hers and told me about everything she was getting up to. Everything. All the pool parties, drinking and running from the police cos you have to be 21 to drink over here which is totally stupid, but people still do it. All the boys. I couldn’t wait and I wasn’t going to.
Caoimhe / Colleen did admit to feeling a little bit lonely at times after she arrived stateside, only to find none of the hostels were open and that the only accommodation she could find was at a motel. But she says she landed a job at the place she always wanted, Disney World, and things immediately started to look up.
“Yes I wanted to be one of the Princesses and yes I was disappointed to find out you actually have to audition for those jobs, like, way earlier in the year, which I totally would’ve done had I known, but I love my job managing the queues on some of the rides. And we had loads of time to practice too when the park was closed. That was really important. Disney really care about health and safety. And now that the park is open and we can say ‘Welcome Home’ to visitors, I’m just really”
At this point, unfortunately, Colleen / Caoimhe ran out of internet data on her phone and the call ended. GNA did however receive a text message from the Glanmireonian later that night to say she was definitely still having a great time, but also looking forward to coming back home to Glanmire at the end of the summer and resuming her degree in Nursing at UCC in the autumn. We wish her all the best.
